7 Ways to Lose your Belly Fat

David Coffin---July 2 2013

With googles of information on weight loss on the Internet it can be hard to find your way when your only goal is to get trim around the midsection. Some suggest CLA or other supplements to target body fat, but we have organic and natural ways to lose your gut. If you're looking for ways to rid yourself of the annoying flab that collects around your midsection, then here are 7 ways to lose your belly fat.

  1. Work your entire body

The first, most important light, I would like to shed on belly fat is that spot training is a myth of the past. When we exercise and diet we lose body fat at a constant percentage at all parts of our bodies. Just remember that a 30% decrease in your waistline will be more noticeable than a 30% change in your wrists.
  2. Second helpings hit the spot, and stretch your stomach

When we binge eat our stomach expands and stays that way. This expansion makes us want to fill the larger space at subsequent meals, often leading us to overeat. This same principle can be used to our advantage to lose belly fat. Before eating meals it is to our advantage to drink a large glass of water to expand our stomachs filling that space with water is healthier than filling it with a Big Mac.
  3. Exercise your core

As we discussed earlier spot training does not work, but exercising our core is as good a way as any to lose pesky body fat from all parts of our bodies. This core section can be worked by sit ups, treadmills, and by merely sucking in our stomachs. I've found my greatest success while including daily jogs into the mix.
  4. The simpler the molecule the faster it gets into the bloodstream

All those sodas we drink do more than contribute to diabetes and heart disease, they add empty calories to our bloodstream, and the bloodstream seems to carry them straight to our gut. When these simple sugars(and carbs) get into our bloodstream they offer a short period of time to use them, which is nearly impossible to do while sitting at a desk. We need bigger molecules like protein and fiber that will be broken down and burned when needed. This avoids the pesky sugar crashes too.
  5. Lifting builds muscles, muscle burns fat

One of my favorite ways to lose fat has nothing to do with running, it is all about lifting. When we lift weights we break muscle fibers. Those muscle fibers require rest and calories to heal. So, while running boosts your metabolism for about a half an hour, the muscles that are being repairs burn for days while they heal. This makes you stronger and slimmer. Always be sure to know your limits so that you don't pull a muscle.
  6. Oatmeal and Apples

Two foods that are high in fiber but still have the sugars and carbs you're craving are apples and oatmeal. Apples offer an excellent blend of fiber, nutrition, and an incredible taste. I recommend the crisp gala apples, although there are plenty of varieties to experiment with. Oatmeal has fiber, cholesterol fighting agents, and a long term fullness that will sustain you for hours.
  7. If it's good enough for toddlers, it's good enough for us

The last bit of wisdom I'd like to impart is to find a quiet time and place and take a nap. This will reduce stress and give us extra energy. The extra energy you feel throughout the day will help you achieve the first 6 ideas presented in this article. Moreover there are stress chemicals, such as chortisol, which will be diminished by regular napping.

These 7 ways to lose your belly fat are to be part of a well rounded diet and exercise plan. I'm hopeful that we will lose our belly fat with ease and quickness by following these guidelines. Happy belly-busting.
